Set up IPTV on any device in about five minutes.
Install a player, enter your details, open the guide. Device-by-device instructions for Canadian homes.
Setting up IPTV in Canada takes about five minutes on most devices. The pattern is always the same: install a compatible IPTV player app, enter the service details we send you after activation, and open the guide. This page walks through each popular device. If you get stuck at any step, support is available 24/7/365 in English and French.
Compatible devices
MAG set-top boxes are not supported.
Amazon Fire TV Stick (the most popular choice in Canada)
- From the Fire TV home screen, search for an IPTV player such as TiviMate or IPTV Smarters in the Amazon Appstore and install it. If the player you want isn’t listed, install Downloader and sideload the player’s APK from its official website.
- Open the player and choose Xtream Codes (or Add playlist).
- Enter the server URL, username and password from your activation email.
- Wait for channels and EPG data to load (one to two minutes the first time).
- Open the guide and press play. For the smoothest 4K, set the decoder to Hardware in the player’s settings.
Android TV and Google TV (Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Chromecast, NVIDIA Shield)
- Open the Google Play Store on the TV and install an IPTV player such as TiviMate, OTT Navigator or IPTV Smarters.
- Launch it and choose Xtream Codes login.
- Enter your server URL, username and password.
- Let the EPG download, then set your favourite channel groups so the guide shows what you actually watch.
Apple TV
- Open the App Store on Apple TV and install an IPTV player such as iPlayTV or IPTV Smarters.
- Choose Xtream Codes or M3U and enter your details. Many players let you type them on your iPhone instead of the remote.
- Save, then wait for the channel list to load.
Samsung and LG Smart TVs
- Open your TV’s app store (Samsung Apps or LG Content Store) and search for an IPTV player such as IPTV Smarters, Smart IPTV or ibo Player.
- Install and open the player. Some players show a MAC address or device ID on first launch; note it down.
- If the player asks for login details, enter your server URL, username and password. If it asks you to upload a playlist at its website, use the M3U link from your activation email together with the MAC address.
- Restart the app. Channels and EPG will load.
Older Samsung and LG sets without an IPTV player in their store work well with a Fire TV Stick or Chromecast with Google TV plugged into an HDMI port.
iPhone and iPad
- Install an IPTV player from the App Store, such as IPTV Smarters or GSE Smart IPTV.
- Add a new playlist using Xtream Codes or the M3U link.
- Enable EPG in the player’s settings and set the time zone to your location.
Android phones and tablets
- Install IPTV Smarters, TiviMate or OTT Navigator from Google Play.
- Choose Xtream Codes login and enter your details.
- Turn on hardware decoding for battery life on long games.
Windows and Mac
- Install a desktop IPTV player, or open VLC Media Player.
- In VLC, choose Media → Open Network Stream and paste your M3U link. In a dedicated player, use the Xtream Codes login.
- For EPG and catch-up on a computer, a dedicated player is a better experience than VLC.
Internet speed and home network tips for Canada
- Speed: 25 Mbps is comfortable for HD; 50 Mbps or more for 4K. Every major Canadian ISP plan sold today meets this, and the service works on cable, fibre, DSL and fixed wireless.
- Wired beats wireless: an Ethernet cable to the TV removes most buffering. If you must use Wi-Fi, connect to the 5 GHz network and keep the router in the open.
- Evening congestion: if streams stutter only between 7 and 11 PM, the bottleneck is usually the home network or ISP, not the service. Try a wired connection first.
- Time zone: set the player’s EPG time zone to your province so game times line up with the guide.
Common problems and quick fixes
- “Invalid login”: check for stray spaces when typing the username and password, and confirm the server URL includes the port number if one was provided.
- Channels load but the guide is empty: refresh the EPG in the player’s settings and wait a minute; the first download is large.
- Freezing on one channel only: try the channel’s HD or SD variant; the source feed may be busy.
- “Max connections reached”: another device is already streaming. Close the player on the other device, or upgrade to a 4-connection plan.
